Toby P Lloyd is an artist and researcher. He recently completed a practice-based PhD in the Fine Art Department at Newcastle University. His research examines public attitudes to work, the value of free-time and the emancipatory affects Universal Basic Income could have on society. This is done via interactive exhibitions which pose rhetorical questions to instigate conversation and activity that challenge perceived values and experiences of everyday life.

In 2020 he is the co-founder of UBI Lab Arts, a group for artists and artworkers interested in using creative methods to deepen and broaden the conversation about Universal Basic Income. This has been conducted through a series of online creative sharing sessions. You can view recordings of these sessions here.

Outside of making art he enjoys drinking real ale and listening to music. His favourite band is The Fall.
