Toby Phips Lloyd is an artist, currently undertaking a practice based PhD in the Fine Art Department at Newcastle University. His research examines the temporalities of work, poverty and participation in the arts: exploring the Universal Basic Income as a means by which to give voice to citizenship.

He also works collaboratively with Andrew Wilson as Lloyd & Wilson.   A recurring theme within their work has been the social dynamic of the ‘Public House’, where once you have bought or been bought a glass of beer, you have entered an environment where you are a participant rather than a spectator. This methodology is used to create frameworks and build environments that encourage others to communicate with one another in order to open up shared and conflicting experiences of everyday life.
